Area of Granada
There is evidence of olive oil production in this area in the late fifteenth century. At that time the oil was from the autochthonous variety Loaime as reflected in the Book of Los Apeos de Cogollos Vega. In the Madoz dictionary is exalted the delicious taste of the oils of this land, natural area on the subbética Granada, bounded on the north by the provinces of Jaen and Cordoba, and south by the Vega of Granada. Its climate is continental Mediterranean, allowing the develop of aromatic oils with high oleic acid above 8% of total fatty acids.
